Give a Girl a Minute

We all have those moments when our kids momentarily stun us with the things they say, but it still makes me speechless every dang time!  A few weeks ago, Boog was in the tub {taking her sweet time} and I told her she needed to get a move on.  I leave and go do something else, I was piddling for probably 10 minutes or so.  I thought, Okay, where is she?  I go back and check on her, and she's just singing her little heart out while she's washing her hair.

I simply remind her to hurry up.  She says okay and I keep on doing stuff around the house.  It was getting closer and closer to the time we needed to leave, so I started to change my clothes and get ready.  I'm  just about done...dressed, teeth brushed, dogs taken care of...now for Boog.

I walk into the bathroom to see what is taking her sooooo long to get out of the tub.  She's standing in the tub dancing while she has her "poof" in her hand washing her arms.  I'm cracking up, but we have got to get a move on, so I tell her {in my Mommy Means Business voice} that she needs to get her cute little dancing hiney out of the tub and get dressed.

She turns to me, puts a hand on her hip and says, " Ughhh mom!  Give a girl a minute!!!".

I thought I was going to pee in my pants I was laughing so hard at her.  Seriously.  It was so unexpected, and I never imagined something like that coming out of her mouth, at least not for another 6 or so years!

She refused to brush her hair after she got out, so this is what it looked like after it dried!

So, come on...tell me something your kids have said that threw you into the giggles.

Sweet Shimmer came out to play too!  She did not like the snow!

 Boog drew me a heart!

I love that Caroline picked out all the snowgirl {she informed me it was not a boy!} adornments!  The eyes are dried flowers! Hahahaha!

Hope those who got the snow enjoyed it!

Busy Momma

I've been super busy over the last week!  Getting all sorts of stuff out of the way, getting things ready for the hubby to be gone, and chasing my sweet little darling around!  Here are a few things I've been working on lately.

And of course I couldn't leave you without a picture of Boog!   She just melts my heart!

Be sure to check out my Etsy shop for new items...I'm adding things daily!

Busy Momma

Whew...I have been a busy momma this last week! It was my first week back at work after being off for 2 weeks! And since I wasn't off vacationing I was a little slow at the beginning of the week! But as the week progressed, momma got her groove back! LOL!

Poor Shimmer got a bath...by Boog
Shimmer looks terrified, LOL!

I've had lots of projects that I have been working on, shipping out, and planning...I'm so excited and can't wait to share them! My parents dog groomer {for some reason that doesn't sound grammatically correct to me?} is moving her shop, and she wants some items to sell. So, the wonderful daddy-o told her about my work! So I have been getting some things together, as well as making a few new things to take up there so she can take a look! Hopefully, she'll love them, and I'll get more business!

Of course, I have a few orders I have been finishing up, and a few I am getting the details on, so I have been really happy with my side business lately! I lOVE to paint, sew, create fun things for people, so I have been having a blast! We {Caroline and I} are also working on a special project for her buddy Ryan...I'll post about it after we give it to him!

We had a fairly laid back weekend, with a quick impromptu date with the hubby thrown in! Saturday, Boog and I headed over to her cousin Blake's house for a bit. They just got a new pool, and the kids were just dying to go swim! His mom had a meeting to go to and I hung out with the kids for a while, then when she got home, I ran a few errands {which took way longer than I imagined} while she hung out with the kids! Boog did not want to go home! She ended up staying the night, which she loved, because she adores her aunt, uncle and cousin Blake!

Hubby has a second job during harvest working for one of his old bosses farming. He loves the change in work, so he looks forward to it every year. Needless to say, that during harvest, we only see him around 9:30 at night every night, which Boog is almost always already asleep by then. On Saturday night they finished up a little early, and we had no kid! We almost didn't know what to do! It has been literally months and months since we have had a night to ourselves! We decided to go ahead and grab dinner {it was already 9pm}, and hopped on the bike. There's this little mexican place we love and we headed up there, only to get there and see that they are getting ready to close! But the owner is super nice, and we hapopen to go there frequently, so he ushered us in to eat...which was so sweet of him! We had a good meal, great conversation {I talked way more than I ate, and Tab kept laughing the whole time, but I never see him and I had a lot to catch up on!} and knew it was time to get out of there and let them get home! Don't worry, hubby left a huge tip for staying there just to feed us!

Sunday, I picked up Boog, and we headed home to do laundry. That evening we had Blake's birthday party at the Water Park here. He and several of his friends with July birthdays rented the place out for the evening! It was tons of fun, and such a great idea. Boog was asleep within minutes of getting home last night!

How was your weekend? Do anything super fun?

Hairy Frustrations

Okay people...time for some tips...please. Do any of you have a sweet, adorable little girl who loves to chew/suck on her hair?

I do. And I hate it. And I can't seem to do anything to get her to stop.

I completely lost my patience with her this weekend. I have been telling her for days to get her hair out of her mouth. Nope. I turn around, and she does it again. So, Saturday, Avery & Amy were over while the men were working on the back part of our land {another story later} and the girls were picking up in Boog's room. I saw her once with her hair in her mouth and told her to quit. A few minutes later, you guessed it...again. When I saw her for the 4th time, I quietly left her room, went to my bathroom, got my hair scissors. I nonchalantly walked in her room took her hair out of her mouth, and whacked it off. She just looked at me like I was crazy.

And, yes, at that moment, it was a little crazy of me to do, but I thought I needed something drastic to make her stop putting her hair in her mouth.

So, after they finished picking up, I got Boog in the tub to wash her hair. Then I cut it all off. I am not a happy mommy. I don't want to have to keep cutting her hair every time it gets long enough for her to get it in her mouth! But I have run out of ideas. I tried fixing her hair, cute bows & headbands. Keeping it pulled up out of her face, until she gets to school and takes it down. I give up. Unless of course, someone could pass on some wisdom to this overly frustrated mommy of the insistent-hair-has-to-be-in-her-mouth little girl. Until then, she gets to look like this.

My Favorite Thing

As I am coming out of the bathroom this morning like a mad woman, trying to get Caroline and I both fed and dressed so we can be out the door on time, this is what I find. Does she look dressed and ready to you?

Nope, but how can I be mad at a face like that? I let it slide this morning....

Happy Birthday Booga Boo!

My baby is growing up. She is 6 years old today....WOW!

Caroline, I never imagined it would go this fast. Time is just flying by, and you get bigger by the minute. Someday, I hope you will know the joy of being a mommy, and then you will understand all the love I have for you. I love you more than the day is long, and can't wait to watch you each and every day! Happy Birthday Baby! Mommy loves you!

It's the WEEEEkend, I'm gonna PAAAAAArty....

With a bunch of 6 year olds! Tomorrow is Caroline's 6th Birthday Party. Her birthday is on Monday!

I am one of the weird moms who actually likes to have the parties at my house, so we are having a bounce house again this year, and just plain old fun! I love parties. Planning, making the invitations, decorating, cooking, the whole 9 yards!

Of course I will have lots of pictures to post after {if I survive!}.

Speaking of which...don't think I told everyone the story behind the party this year. Boog wanted to have a "girl" party, where they played dress-up, got their little toenails painted, and had a fashion show and if they could, spend the night. Which is fine with me, it would be like every other day in the Murry house {not the spending the night part}. But, {bless her sweet innocent heart!} she wanted all the boys to come to this too! I explained that it was really a girl thing to play dress-up, and maybe we should just have a normal boy/girl party.

Which of course she wanted both. So from 4-6 {yes, I do feed people dinner} we are having the boy/girl party, and then if any of the girls want to stay for the girl stuff and spend the night, the are more than welcome to {can we say pushover? I know, I know!}.

We'll see how it turns out! My poor hubby may run away, but he'll get over it! {Love you honey!}

Hope everyone has as much fun as we do this weekend!

It Really Was Whiny Wednesday

***Updated Below***

Boy oh boy was yesterday just whiny! I thought I had it bad, but nope, so did my poor Boog. We have been having a problem for the last 2 weeks of getting our clip changed at school.

*****Quick side story*****

Each child starts out on blue everyday, if they act out, don't do their work, or various other things, they have to move their "clip" to another color. The color scale is as follows: Blue {great day}, Green {had a few rough spots}, Yellow {3rd strike}, Orange {call to the parents}, & Red {you guessed it, visit the principal}.

*****Side story over*****

Out of the last 2 weeks, she has only been blue 2 times! That's just not good! Green 2 times, Yellow 3 times & Orange once! I have been so discouraged, and just can't seem to help her. So last night we were talking about ways that she can change this behavior, and I really hope she can just step up, and be a big girl. I know she can. But the whole night she cried and whined, and was just plain miserable! I'm afraid she may be coming down with something, but I'm praying she doesn't since her birthday party is this weekend! She kept on telling me she was freezing, but the house was warm. No fever though, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

On another note, one of the things I have a HUGE problem with is Boog chewing her hair....so gross! About 2 months ago, we told her if she kept doing it, we were taking her to get it cut short so that she wouldn't be able to chew on it anymore....we had to get it cut. And honestly, she looks better with short hair because it is so fine and straight, but she doesn't know that ;) She wants to have long, long hair, so getting it cut seems to work because she is so sad it's not long, she'll quit chewing on it....for a little while. Well it was finally growing out a little, enough for a ponytail at least, and she has been chewing on it again for a few weeks, so last night we trekked to get it cut...again. But, I had them stack it in the back and angle it to the front, it looks great! I'll post pics when I get the chance!

So........can anyone guess what she has been getting in trouble for at school? If you know me then this should not be so hard to figure out, I get teased all the time for doing the same thing. We'll see if anyone gets it right!

***I guess it really wouldn't be a shock huh? I mean I do have a blog and all so I can constantly "talk"!!! But yep, Caroline has been talking too much and yes dad, disrupting the class! How do I make her stop?***

"Boog" Does NOT Stand for Boogers!

Let me give a little clarification for everyone.

Over the years so many people have asked me why I call my daughter Boog. "Does it mean she has a lot of boogers?" "Why do you call your kid boogers?"

It has nothing to do with the infamous child obsession of boogers.

Starting when she was a baby, and I'm talking about 6 months or so, she has had a love for music. At the time, I had a very dear friend who we spent tons of time with. She and I always jammed in the car. Mostly, we were huge country fanatics, but she also loved punk, and she turned me onto it. We always noticed when the fun music came on, that Caroline would start to smile, kick her legs, and wave her arms. She also would make tons of happy noises. We always said to her things like, "are you boogieing"? So at some point, and I'm not sure which one of us actually started it, we started to call her Boogie Boo. Over time it was shortened to Boog, and sometimes I call her Booga Boo.

Hopefully that answers any of your questions about the name Boog.

Much Love-
Alicia
