In the Thick of It

So during June, I'm a little crabby because the girl is gone for the month.  Which means that
a. I miss her terribly
and
b. that I can get tons done {if I don't sit and mope}.

I've been swamped with "stuff".

We had a yard sale.  Too much stuff and not enough space.  Some of it was hard to let go of.  But it had to go.

And we've been getting ready for our annual beach trip with my inlaws.  We go every 4th of July to the TX coast and we literally veg on the beach for days.  Like, we tent camp.  Like beach bums.  And we love every minute of our time there.  We cook on the beach, we bathe, sleep and play on the beach.  Well we shower in the inlaws camper, but it's on the beach.

Every year the hubs and I drive up and down the beach and swoon at the vintage campers we see.  For several years we've said we'll get one.  We finally decided it was time after last year and got to work hunting one down.  We're strange and really wanted one that was different.  We love the old Shasta's and I love Airstream's but hubby really has a thing for vintage campers with odd shapes.  Yeeeesh.

His dad stumbled on one right down the road from us and we took off to see it.  But we didn't get warm fuzzies when we saw it.  We decided to wait.  Then his dad calls us back and says he bought it!  He loved our idea so much that they wanted to restore a vintage camper too.  So we all set out to make it happen!

I've posted a few pics of the process on FB, but there was so much more to be done.  His dad handled all the interior and we did the exterior.  I still have some finishing touches I'll paint on eventually, like pinstriping the back "V" but that can wait.

I was in charge of making the canopy and the outdoor shower curtain.  The canopy is finished!  The shower curtain is in progress.

Today and the rest of the weekend I'll be packingthe camper with the goodies we'll need since we leave on Tuesday!  Beach Bound or Bust!

Once we get to the coast and all set-up I'll do a post that does this baby justice :)

And since we go for the 4th of July, that calls for new mani/pedi's and cute outfits.  I finished C's sash that she'll wear with a romper that she has.   And I'll do our nails the day before we go, you can check IG for those pics in the coming days.

That's it for now friends...have a fabulous day!

A Glimpse

I was doing a little blog reading today when I stumbled onto something fun.

I know all of you read The Pioneer Woman.  If not, go now.

Anywho.

She did a post several days ago titled, Fifteen Ways Marlboro Man and I Are Different.

It made me realize that I give y'all a glimpse into my chaotic mind quite frequently, but only tidbits here and there about the hubs.

And I thought it might be fun.

Because well, I never think about our differences until he does something that makes me think about them.  Did you follow that?

So here you go...15 ways that The Hubs and I Are Different:

1.  He doesn't drink coffee.
I'm not a morning person and I will be mean to you until I have some.  But not on purpose.

I'm totally stealing what she wrote, because she hit the nail on the head with #2.  And it couldn't be any closer to the truth for us.

2.  He watches NASCAR on Sundays.
I watch Real Housewives reruns on Sundays.

3.  He doesn't get sucked into stupid iphone games.
Ahem...Candy Crush Addicts Anonymous...My Name is Alicia, and I'm an Addict.

4.  He wants it to be blistering hot summer year round.
I want it to be blithering cold year round.

5.  He drinks beer.
I drink wine.

6.  He would be happy to never have another dog or cat.
I try to bring home every single one I see.

7.  He buys 1 shirt a year.
I'm not going to incriminate myself here, but lets just say I've got him covered.

8.  He loves sweet tea.  Like pucker your lips sweet.
I love un-sweet tea. Or at the very most half sweet half un-sweet.

9.  He always answers his phone when it rings.
Unless it's my kid or him, I'll call you back.

10.  He likes to sleep in total darkness.
I like the lamp on.  I had a mean big sister, and hate the dark.

11.  He likes motorcycle magazines and saves them "for ideas".
I like Pinterest "for ideas".

12.  He hates super hot showers.
I love super hot baths.  Like, I'm completely red when I get out.

13.  He falls asleep in 0.1 seconds.
I fall asleep in 1,763,239 seconds.  That's right, if you did the math, it takes me 20.4 days to fall asleep.  Maybe, I'm not good at math.

14.  He reads a book once every 2 years.
I read a couple a month.

15.  He goes to bed at 8:30pm
I go to bed at 1:30am and then lay there for 1,763,239 seconds.

Maybe I'll do a post on our similarities next ;)

Fun{ky} Filled Fridays

Happy Friday peeps!

Ohhhh am I glad the weekend is here!  I have a to do list a mile long and not enough time.  The weekend means the hubs is home and we can get to work!  We leave for the coast in 11 days and there's still sooooo much to get done.  I still have to finish the canopy on the vintage camper that our family has been restoring and the outdoor shower curtain.  Pics soon!

I've been trying to keep busy this month while my girl is at her dads.  The joys of divorced parenting.  And to top it off they are finally taking a "family vacation".  Which, don't get me wrong, is a good thing since she's never been anywhere with her dad and his wife {we won't discuss the countless trips they've taken in 7 years}.  I just wish they hadn't been so extreme with their choice.

This my friends, is Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  Gorgeous huh?  But it's like, 2000 miles away {somewhere close to that anyway}. sigh.  I've never been more than 150 miles {at the most} from her. ever.  Makes a momma's heart a little on edge.  Not to mention, I'm in mom mode.  What is the medical care available?  What sicknesses are present there?  Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen...have you seen my pale pale kid?  I can't wait till she's home and I get to hear the fun stuff about her trip, so I can quit worrying.  I sent her with 5 notes, one for each day, for her to read each morning.  Each day had a question about her trip.  "What neat animals did you see today?" and "Did you try a new food?" were a couple.  And then one had a little $$ for her to buy something she wanted.  I can't wait till she's back, then I only have 7 days till she's back home for the summer!

Let's get to the fun stuff.

On my list of ifIhadamillionbuckstoblow....

This couch.  We really need seating like this for our living room.  We have an odd living space and something like this would be so much better suited to the room.

I have a thing for pitchers.  I have about 25.  Maybe more.  And this one is adorbs, and I neeeeed it.

And while I'm on Anthropologie....

 Chalkboard Spice Jars                                             Poppy Ring

If you haven't checked out GroupDealz, go now.  Super cute stuff for super great prices.

Right now I'm totally loving these earrings.  Love the pale summer colors.

And if you know me at all, then you know I love all things office-y.  Yes, I made that word just now.  If I can write with it, on it, seal it or stamp it, I want it.  And these are awesome.

What fun{ky} finds have you found this week?  Have a blessed and fun{ky} weekend my friends!
