Migraines at 7...Really?

I never would have guessed that my sweet, crazy, high energy 7 year old would have migraines!  But apparently she does.  Poor Caroline has been having headaches for the last 3-4 months {not quite 4 months} and we've been to the doctor 5 times, maybe 6...I can't keep up these days!  The time before last they told us that they think her migraines are brought on by allergies.  They put her on Flonase & Zyrtec for 3 weeks and told us to see how that worked.  After 3 weeks if she was still having the "headaches" they would send us to a pediatric neurologist.  Great!  It's been 2 weeks, and she's been back to the doctor...we still have to wait until the 3 weeks are up!

I just feel sooooo helpless!  Nothing seems to help once they start...not Motrin, Ibuprofen, nothing!  The only thing that seems to ease them are cold wash clothes that she puts on her head/face.  I feel so helpless.  I can't make them stop, and as a mommy, you want to make your kiddos feel better, but nothing I do seems to work.  Any advice friends?  I'm almost willing to try anything...within reason!  LOL!

I've had several friends on FB {Facebook} tell me that they too, or their kiddos, also suffer/ed from migraines!  Never would that have crossed my mind!  In fact, the 1st time that it was really bad, we were on our way to summer camp/work, when she told me that her head was hurting and that she was nauseous and then proceeded to get sick!  She's been pretty sick a few times, but when they hit, she is a totally different little girl!  Crying about everything, whiny, laying on the couch and begging for them to stop...what's a mom to do?  And I'll be honest, after the whole ITP thing, I'm a little paranoid when it comes to her health!

And you know what?  I'm worn out!  I feel like I should be doing something else, but not quite sure what.  Please say a prayer for Caroline or a sweet thought!  I really just want to make her all better!  If you happwn to have any tricks up your sleeve, please let me know!  Thanks sweet friends!

Shamrock, TX

At the very beginning of the summer {in fact, school may not have been out yet!} Caroline & I took a trip to the top of Texas!  Back in February I talked about Tab making a career change, well he was working up there and we missed him!  So we took a road trip to a little itty bitty Texas town named Shamrock.  It's about 90 miles east of Amarillo and about 20 miles west of Oklahoma.  I'm taking this town is tiny.  But I loved this place!  I have a deep love and appreciation for little, old towns.  They just tug on my heart.  The history, the beauty, the way of life....

I was busy looking at every thing I could and taking pictures too.  Here is a re-cap...

Does anyone recognize the gas station in the above picture?  Or maybe the Conoco part of the building?

Yep!  The Tower station was the inspiration for Ramone's in the Movie Cars...why, because it was also on old Route 66!  Cool huh?  Caroline thought that was awesome!!!

Tab's been back home since June!  Yay!!!!!  But we all want to go back and visit Shamrock!

Crazy Summer Fun

Since I've never gotten around to posting sooooo many things this past several months, I'm checking one off my list!  Haha!  I don't know why it's been so difficult for me to get on here and post things, especially since the #1 reason for blogging is to document the things I don't want to forget about our lives!  I've just found that lately I've simply had to put it on the back burner because we have so many more important things to take care of, and blogging just ends up last.  I want to get out of that though because I look back over the past years of blogging and have such great memories!

Over the summer Caroline went to this amazing summer camp that a local church has had for years.  I'd never heard of it until a sweet friend from work brought me a brochure and told me she thought Caroline would love it.  So I have to thank Leigh Ann for such a great recommendation!  I've never seen Caroline so in love with going somewhere during the day!  I adored this program, and of course for her, I really wanted her to go somewhere with a Christian influence.  Guess what her favorite part of the day was?  Daily worship service!  That makes a momma's heart burst with joy!  At the end of camp, they had a musical and I wanted to share some of the pics from the musical because they just crack me up!

Ohhhh how she makes me laugh!  I can't wait to look back on these pictures one day and show her what a silly, silly girl she was!

Engagement Party

A few weeks ago we went to my ex-husband's engagement party.  That just sounds so weird right?  Well, yes and no!  Haha!  We're really trying to make life the best it can be for Caroline, and if that means all of us hanging out together, then that's just what we do.  Tab and I took it as a chance to have a getaway weekend filled with some of my favorite Dallas things!  We went to lunch at El Fenix {yummy!}, and we went to Sprinkles, then before we headed home, we went to my favorite burger joint ever, Keller's Drive-In!  It was so yummy!  But back to the party!  I took the old handy dandy camera with me to try and catch some good shots of the festivities.  It was a great party and Tab & I were glad we could be there to share in the joy!

******WARNING - LOTS OF PICS******

I got some great shots of the Bride-to-be!  She has such a fun personality, and it shows in her photos!
