A Little of This, A Little of That

Just when I think I'm going to get a break and get things all scheduled out, I get swamped again.  Which isn't a bad thing, because I like to be busy.  I do however, hate the things I have to put on the back burner!  So yet again my poor blog and bloggy friends have taken a back seat not to mention my poor house, which does make me sad :(

Can I just say that I LOVE working from home?  I love being able to get to eat lunch with Caroline whenever I want to, run errands whenever I want to, and work at my own pace on the things that I love!  Seeing her face when I pick her up from school everyday, spending time with her in the afternoons, making dinner with her so we can eat when the hubby gets home and not at 7pm makes everything worth it!

Now, me being a little over advantageous and piling a million things on my plate, that makes me a little crazy, haha!  But I do it because I love to and I want to cherish these things while I still can!

Caroline's school has been planning our Annual Carnival which includes a huge silent auction, and that has me up to my eye balls in details.  So I've been recovering ticket cans, gathering donations, and working on the student part of the auction, which is always a huge hit, so
I'm hoping I do a good job!

Normally the kids help make something from each class, or take a class picture or something similar that includes all the kids from each class.  In years past, they've painted huge potted plant containers, made picture frames they all signed, well, you get the picture.  This year I decided to do canvases that the kids can all sign or paint something on.  Here's a little sneak peek!

Needless to say, I've been quite busy with PTA stuff!  And I love being able to do it!  And you'll be so proud I've even got some posts scheduled!  Thank the Good Lord I'm getting back in the groove!  With all the change that's been going on, I lost myself for a bit there...but I'M BACK peeps!  Or at least I'm pretty sure I am :)

Stream of Consciousness

I need to finish the laundry...ughhhh, I hate the laundry.  And I need to clean the kitchen, wash the wine glasses.  Not in the mood to cook tonight, I wonder where we should go for dinner?  I really want to get working on pictures that need to be edited, and work on painting...and I have a gift I want to make. Wonder how late I'll stay up tonight,2,3,4...?  I must find the time to get the back office organized, it looks like Caroline blew through there....and let's not even think about her room.  HORRIBLE.  I wanna get everything out of her room so I can start the redo on it, which means I'll need more paint, a new fan, and to decide what I want to do with her floors...concrete for sure, pretty sure I'll paint them.  I see lots of bags for Goodwill in our future.  She never plays with anything in her room. Except for her dolls.  I'm giving it all away! hehehe, although she'll be glad to donate it.  She makes me so proud. I wanna go see Water for Elephants this weekend, the book was soooo good.  Then start on my stack of books to read, man I've been slacking.  So much to do and never enough time.  I need to start working on PTA stuff for the summer and fall.  We're getting 40 new families we need to make feel welcome.  And plans for the summer...ughhhh.  I just want 3 months off from work to try and get things done at home.  Almost time to start the weekend, which is great, but it also means I have to wait 3 more days till my dentist opens on Tuesday.  Until then I look like a circus freak with missing teeth.  Doesn't my dentist know how much I smile, I can't walk around until Tuesday with one of my front teeth missing!!!!!  Stupid teeth...I should've just had'em all pulled 3 years ago instead of root canals & crowns on my 6 front teeth.  Now I'm in pain, look stupid and have to suffer through this for days!!!  This stinks.  Which also means there will be no Mother's Day pics with Boog, because I'm darn sure not smiling for the camera right now.  And I sure wish I could just shut my mind down right now, it's just going, going, going...it's like it never stops.  I just need to not think for a few minutes.

Harper Valley PTA

Well, not really.  It just seemed like the right title to put.  Why?  I was elected as the new PTA President!  Lord help me!  I'm super excited and then I make myself freak out over it.  It's a lot of responsibility, but I like to be busy.  Even though it makes me a little crazy, but I was already a little crazy to begin with.

I think for me the best thing about this is that I can make a difference.  And I know even though my mom is in heaven , she's looking down with a huge smile on her face and she's unbelievably proud of me.  She loved PTA.  She loved doing things for the kids.  I look back at my childhood and the most important things I remember about school all involve my momma.  She was always at every event.  Every. Event.  It was always so great to know that she was there.  I hope someday that Boog looks back and has the same great memories.  Of course, at some point {junior high} I was ready for her to not be at the school all the darn time!

All in all, I can't wait to plan for next year and see what great things we can do for our school.  It's a daunting task, and I know there will be times when I could have done things better, but I can't wait for the challenge!  Here's to hoping I have all my hair by the time schools over next year...

PTA or Bust!

Sometimes I can't figure out how I get myself into these things! I WANT to be a part of the PTA at my daughter's school, I WANT to help in any way that I can.

I am now the Proud Committee Chair of The Academic Excellence Committee! WHOA! How did I manage that?

Now before I begin to get really whiney....it really isn't that hard. Just fill out some certificates for awards for every six & nine week report cards, AND get local businesses to donate gift cards! HA!!!!

I might be able to do the cutesy certificates, but get people to donate?!?!? I'm not so sure about that part. But in my defense, I told the PTA president that I would give it my best shot. And I really will.....I think!

Surely I can do this! If not, I am afraid I will end up kicked out of the PTA {I don't really think they'd kick me out....I hope!}
