Memorial Day

We didn't really have any plans for the long weekend other than going to one of Caroline's best friends birthday party. It was at a skating rink, which brought back so many childhood memories. Since most of the kids were 6 or so, they weren't very good at skating, but they were so darn cute!

Then on Sunday our friends ended up having a pool raising party/cookout, and Caroline and I had soooo much fun with our friends{Tab is farming right now, pesky harvest time and all, so he wasn't with us}! Robert & Lisa {the friends mentioned above} live really close to a creek that tends to flood so every year we get the pool ready for the summer. We spend many a happy, warm {hot! this is Texas} day in their pool soaking up the cool water, so we were glad to help! It took us about 20 people to get the job done, and then the waiting began...for it to fill up! Caroline was so excited, she was on pins & needles waiting for it to fill up. Even though we told her that it wouldn't be full until the next afternoon, Robert let her jump in once it was about a foot full, and she had a blast!

Robert made a little train for all the kids to ride in, and we all had a great time riding through the woods in it! The kids love it!

Self-Potrait

Later that night we all sat around eating and talking, we had such a good time with our wonderful friends! Thanks Robert & Lisa for such a great weekend!

Can it Really Be Almost Over?

I cannot believe Kindergarten is about to be over! Really. I swear it was just last week that I cried my eyes out as I walked Boog into the mean evil school {my words, not hers}. I was so heartbroken. If you don't remember how cute she was or how pathetic I was, you can refresh your memory of her 1st day of school.

So this whole thing is quickly coming to an end. Faster than I ever thought possible. We have been so busy this month that sometimes I'm not even sure what the date is! Field day was just 2 weeks ago.

Then last week we had the end-of-the-year swim party at the water park, and the same night we had Book Night at Barnes & Noble! Whew! What a day that was...Boog was so worn out she was in tears when we left the bookstore. Poor thing!

This week is pretty quiet, but then we have graduation next week. I just can't believe it's coming to an end. Wow!

Which One is Not Like the Other?

Sometimes, I just can't stop laughing! Poor Shimmer, I can't believe she lets Caroline do such crazy stuff to her! And she must have laid just like that for an hour...Caroline said it was "Nap time".

Thought Filled Tuesdays

It's that time again...are you ready?

-Chiggers stink!

Chiggers first show up as annoying red bumps. An itch begins. It grows. More hard red welts surface. From your feet and ankles upward, and especially at those tender locations your mother told not to scratch in public, a maddening itch takes hold.

Savage scratching begins. Every welt becomes a persistent, exquisitely itching preoccupation that continues to irritate for days and even weeks. You probably recognize these symptoms of chigger bites. Yet we never see the culprits responsible for this summertime agony. What are chiggers? Why do they bite us? How can we stop that horrible itching?

This was a really good article, and I know down here in Texas, we fight these little boogers all summer! I know so much more about chiggers than I would have ever cared to know, but I'm happy I know more now!

-Caroline only has 10 more days of kindergarten! Wow...this year has gone by sooo fast!

-They are repainting the parking lot at work today, which really irks me because that is the only close parking. Not that I mind walking, I only complain in the afternoon when the Texas heat sets in.

-Back to Caroline...she is super whiny lately {I may have already told y'all that}, and I CANNOT figure out why! She will cry at the drop of a hat, she is overly sensitive, and it bothers me. I want to be able to help her. Luckily a kiss from mom mostly does the trick :)

-Betsy {one of my doggies} had a lot of fun last night. She got out and was running along the fence teasing the other doggies!

-Did I mention that I hate chiggers? Because I do, they itch like nothing else itches, and I think I am going to have to cut of my legs to make it stop. Seriously.

-I'm just about out of reading material...anyone read a good book(s) that I should read? And yes, I have done the Twilight thing....and loved it!

-Starbucks has this Valencia Orange Loaf....yummy. It's so moist and it has almonds sprinkled on top....just don't tell my husband about it! He's the Starbucks Nazi.

Sarah

What can I say...at least one of us made it! I am unbelievably proud of you...

Of course, I'm talking about your graduation this past weekend {not that I'm not proud of you for other things, like being a great mommy!}

It took a lot for you to keep at it, and while pregnant, and then with a baby, and to graduate while said baby is now a toddler! Whew!

You are my oldest friend, one of the dearest people in my life. I think one of my happiest days ever was when I had you, Aaron & Ruby at my wedding. I want to go over some of my favorite memories, I wonder how many of these you will remember...21 years is a long time to keep them!

1. Doing gymnastics {cartwheels for me} in your front yard at your 5th grade birthday party.
2. Daniel Day Lewis...enough said.
3. Your music collection
4. DJ the cat
5. Raja the cat and his fat belly {I loved getting to see him this weekend!}
6. Mrs. Blaylock and our MASH books!
7. Yanni concert
8. Tennis
9. Lunch at the country club
10. Your dad asleep on the couch with a game on.
11. Vegas
12. La Femme Nikkita
13. UTA mornings
14. Going to El Arroyo the 1st time I came to Austin and drinking margaritas
15. You being my wine buddy
16. Your mom...Oh how I love her!
17. Planning your baby shower
18. Seeing Ruby the 1st time at a Denny's on the side of 35 because we were both sooo busy with the holidays to have time to spend together...she was so precious...
19. Your apartment in Arlington
20. Being there this weekend to watch you graduate college & celebrate with the Baker Clan.

At Graduation: Jennifer, Joyce & Ruby
They Are Sarah's: Sister, Mother & Daughter

Trying to get our kiddos to cooperate

2nd attempt

Sarah & Ruby at her graduation dinner

Her sister Jennifer & her new beau

Ruby really enjoying her orange at brunch

We had such great plans this weekend, and they got rained out...
so the girls wanted to just play in the rain!

You are such a beautiful person Sarah, and I love you for all that you are. In your own words, your a witchy, woodsy woman...my words, your my nature loving, free-spirited, semi-hippie friend. Basically your you, and that's what I love. There are a lot of differences between us, and I guess there always have been, but we have never cared about that, and I don't think we ever will.

Ruby Claire

You share my love of tea tree oil, patchouli, nag champa, aveda, literature, oils, candles, wine, food and being a mommy. We never fail to have a good time. We can sit for hours and talk, not just girl talk, but deep, mind titilating discussions. In our younger years, we could stay up all night talking and polish off quite a few bottles of wine, I'm not so sure about that now, we didn't even finish one bottle this weekend!

I truly hope you know how much I love you & Ruby, although, I'm guessing you do...

Biggest Loser

Oh my...what a week! I have so much to blog about, so many things that I have to say, or want opinions on...are y'all up for it? I hope so!

Biggest Loser Shocker!
Wow! I never saw that coming! Jerry or Helen! I have to say, I was quite impressed!

Can you believe this 64 year old grandpa spanked the pants off of everyone? Well, most of them did awesome, but a few not so good!

I knew Helen wanted to win, but I never thought she would! Granted, I think she's just a tad too skinny now, and that's just me, but still what an amazing job!

And can I just say who would have thought there was such a hottie in Kristin? Uh-hmm....that sounded kinda bad, but you know what I mean!

And Tara...we all knew with her determination she would lose the weight, but wow! Good for her!

Mike...way to go!!! Such an accomplishment! Can you just imagine how totally different his life must feel to him?

Thought Filled Tuesdays

If you feel like joining in and sharing your random thoughts go ahead! This is a simple thing, really it is. There is no point, or direction to these posts, just simple musings you have that you are willing to share! Have Fun!!!!!

-Why do people feel the need to yell at you when they are in the wrong? Seriously, a guy tried to pass us on the shoulder, in town, and then proceeded to yell at us! He tried to tell me that he just got back from Iraq, he served me...uh hello, it's Mother's Day {this was Sunday}...BACK OFF! Caroline agreed and yelled at him from her seat! Go baby! What nerve...

-I hate folding laundry. I have been thinking about it for 2 days while I sit and look at it in it's baskets, in our living room. I thought putting it there would help to motivate me to get it folded...it hasn't.

-I wish my dogs could bathe themselves.

-I really, really want a pedicure.

-I'm mad at the Wii Fit. The JackKnife reps have me in serious pain right now.

-I need to go to the bathroom, but I'm too busy trying to remember all the other things I wanted to use for this post, so I am doing my own version of the potty dance! Ha!

-Who do you think is going to win the Biggest Loser? I'm still undecided...

-I'm glad Joan Rivers won the Celebrity Apprentice...Annie Duke was too much for me, not that I am a huge Joan fan, but Annie was...nevermind.

What are your random thoughts today?

Hey friends! I just put a few new posts on Carolina Sunshine Designs so please take a moment to stop by and see my new stuff! Also, I finally gave in and got my very own Etsy Shop! It's still under construction, so there isn't much on there yet, but I'm working on it! And of course pass it along to all you other bloggy friends too, or real-life friends, or family, fellow mothers, you get the point!

Thought Filled Tuesdays

I have yet to be at a loss for things to talk about {uh-hmm} and I was sitting here this morning as I am updating a website for work, thinking about so many random things. Who would have guessed that, right? And the brilliant idea came to mind that I {I mean we} should have a day completely devoted to random, rambling thoughts, that are rattling around in our pretty little heads. So I give you:

I'll give this a shot and see if anyone is even remotely interested in this, and wants to join in!

So here goes my Thought Filled Tuesday post...

Last night, while I'm in bed trying to force myself to sleep, I was trying to figure out why on earth Caroline keeps getting up in the middle of the night 3 times a week to get in bed with us? She just tells me that she wants to...hmmmm.

This is finals week for our undergrads, and I really can't help but laugh at them when they are running around panicking. I don't think of myself as "old", but I guess maybe I am...these students who are of legal age to drink are babies, they just look so young.

It doesn't matter how much research I do on the World Wide Web, I still can't seem to find any useful information on Caroline's diagnosis of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Perpura {ITP}.

I got a gift certificate for my birthday this weekend to get a massage...but now I can't figure out which kind of massage I want! Any suggestions?

What am I going to cook for dinner tonight? No clue, I forgot to leave some meat in the frig to thaw!

Okay, so this is just a quick little glimpse of what I was pondering the last few days. Let me know if this is something you want to join in on, or continue to see each week. And trust me, if not, you WILL NOT hurt my feelings!

Happy Evening to you all!
